Tue, 15th December 2009 By Paul Linden This year has been challenging for all. But the slower pace of business has given the staff at Accent Painting the opportunity to attend the American Wood Finishing Institute to develop new and exciting waterborne wood finishes. Luis, Jose and I have the ability to blend our own custom materials to create a unique finish just for you. During the two weeks at the Institute, we developed over 180 custom waterborne cabinet finish formulations. In the following three weeks, we developed 140 solvent-based finishes. Accent Painting now offers our clients the largest array of finishing options ever, whether they are waterborne or solvent finishes. We now have the ability to blend all of our own custom materials to create a finish for all your special needs. The photo shows just a few of the available finishes in what are called Step Panels. Step Panels Tell a Story Each finish requires formulating a dye stain, wiping stain, glaze and a toner then recording them in our new computerized database of finishes. We then create a 'step' panel for each new finish for use in our shop and a 6 inch molding sample for mounting in our portfolio cases. These cases will showcase the finishes to our clients. Meeting Today's New Green Building Standards Whether you choose to have your project finished with waterborne or solvent, Accent Painting now offers LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)-compliant systems. All of our finishes meet the exacting standards of the KCMA (Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association) guidelines. As 2009 comes to and end, I wish to thank everyone for keeping us busy in such a trying year. After we ring in the New Year, please give me a call so I can come by and show you some of our newest finishes in person.
